Yeon Shim Chung received her Ph.D. in art history at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University (advisor: Prof. Linda Nochlin). Chung’s research interests encompass both modern and contemporary Western and Korean art. Before teaching at Hongik, Dr. Chung was an assistant professor at the FIT, SUNY in New York City and a researcher for the exhibition The World of Nam June Paikat the Guggenheim Museum in 1999. She worked as co-curator for the 2018 Gwangju Biennale. Chung is a Fulbright fellow and visiting research professor at IFA/NYU from Sept. 2018 to Aug. 2019.
