Stephen Beckett teaches design theory, history, research and psychology. His research interests centre on the convergence of design theory and critical theory, especially psychoanalysis, semiotics and the philosophy of Kant and Hegel. Recent academic publications include articles on the application of dialectical logic to design, complexity theory, cybernetics and sexual difference in the work of psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan.
