BACK, SEUNG WOO
Professor, Visual Communication
Born in 1973 in Daejeon in Korea, Back studied photography in Korea. His works question the unquestioned qualities of photography, such as objectivity, directness, and universality.
He has given the following solo exhibitions: Blow Up at Gana-Beau bourg Gallery, France in 2006; Real World at Gana insa Art Center, Seoul in 2007; Utopia/Blow up, Winner of the Ilwoo Photography Award Exhibition, Ilwoo Space, Seoul in 2010; Deferred Judgment, Art Sonje Center, Seoul in 2011; Memento Doosan Gallery, New York City in 2012; Gaps, Walking on the Line, Centre A, Vancouver, Canada in 2015. He has been creating works that capture the space between the real and unreal, as well as the untold and invisible stories hidden around photographic images
