The Department of Oriental Painting aims to cultivate creative artists who will lead art and culture based on the inheritance of traditional art and the establishment of cultural identity in the contemporary art environment, where international boundaries are gradually disappearing. As Korea’s global capacity grows, the importance of cultural values is also increasingly emphasized, and in response to this trend, the department seeks to nurture artists and professionals in the field of culture and the arts who will lead the future. In the first and second years, students build a solid foundation by learning the basic properties and applications of traditional materials through foundational courses. In the third and fourth years, students are trained to grow into creative and professional artists through advanced study that integrates both practice and theory. The Department of Oriental Painting systematically supports the overall curriculum so that students can engage in in-depth theoretical research and creative work based on fundamental competencies in traditional art.
