The Department of Painting is tasked with producing creative and experimental artists and educators for the future.

It focuses on training leading professionals in the fields of art and education by providing disciplines in both studio practice and theoretical studies. The freshmen and sophomore years concentrate on general education and basic studio practice to develop creativity and expressive skills. The junior and senior courses are designed to take the investigation of contemporary painting as a basis to develop artistic identity. Basic painting and drawing, film, installation, art history and theory classes are provided throughout the course, allowing students to maximize their creative capabilities.
