The Visual Communication Design program provide a wide variety of studios, workshops, lectures, and colloquiums.

As part of this program, every student can experience traditional formative art and design disciplines through typography, graphic design, image production, filmmaking, photography, motion graphic, editing, theories, history, and design management courses, all the while considering the use of multiple media. In the courses, students are asked to plan self initiated projects that feature a relevance to issues of social, cultural, political, and economic significance, and to make them public through the process of research and design. In this process, students create their own design methodologies and theories. Through traditional and challenging education initiatives built up over the pas 60 years, we have turned out not only countless outstanding professionals in visual communication design, but also symbolic figures who have experimentally led our visual culture, reshaping the role of visual communication in terms of its relationship with society. Freshmen are taught foundation courses related to the theory and practical techniques of art and design, and the basic curriculum contains practical techniques (drawing, typography, basic photography, moving image, flat modeling, 3D modeling) as well as design history and theory. This is followed in the 2nd years, when students start courses of study. From the 3rd years, students are involved in studio-based classes to be able to carry out self-initiated projects alongside both physical design workshops and trans media design workshops until they reach the preparation course of a graduation show. In the last semester of the 4th years, 3rd year students culminate their final works under a highly segmentalized system of supervision.
